The Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, will visit the area affected by the forest fire in Vall d'Uixó this Monday at midday to learn about the fire's evolution. The Council of Ministers will approve a decree on Tuesday to expedite aid to the affected areas.
The fire, which has already consumed 4,400 hectares within a 40-kilometer perimeter, is out of control. The President of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, stated that the night was "very complicated" and that extinguishing it is technically "very difficult" due to adverse weather conditions.
A total of 16,000 residents have been evacuated, and around 500 have been rehoused in municipal facilities. The inhabitants of Betxí and Vall d'Uixó remain confined to their homes. More than 450 personnel, with 20 aerial resources, are working to combat the fire, which doubled in size overnight.
The municipalities and urban areas affected by evacuations include Aín, Alcúdia de Veo, Artesa, Alfondeguilla, Tales, Eslida, Vilavella, Artana, Sueras, Villamalur, Torralba, Ayódar, Fuentes de Ayódar, Chóvar, as well as urbanizations in Betxí and some areas of Vall d'Uixó. No homes have been affected in Artana.
The fire has activated the contamination protocol in València due to the accumulation of smoke and particles in the atmosphere. Prolonged outdoor exposure is advised against.
The central government has sent over 200 additional personnel to reinforce firefighting efforts. The Cecopi meeting defined the operation for this Sunday, with the added difficulty of weather conditions.
