LaLiga has released the schedule for the first three matchdays of the competition. Villarreal CF will begin their participation on Sundays, with two afternoon games and one evening match. The opening matchday will be spread across the weeks of August 14th, 18th, and 24th, to allow rest for international players who participated in the final stages of a championship.
On Sunday, August 16th, Villarreal will debut in LaLiga at 17:00 at El Sardinero against newly promoted Racing de Santander. This will be Iñigo Pérez's first official match as the 'groguet' team's coach.
The following week, on Sunday, August 23rd, the 'groguet' club will again open the Sunday fixtures, playing against Atlético de Madrid at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium, also at 17:00. This clash is considered the first major test for the new coach, facing the third and fourth-placed teams from the previous season.
Finally, on Friday, August 28th, Iñigo Pérez's team will play the second match of the third matchday against Deportivo Alavés at Mendizorroza, at 21:30.
