The fire, now in its fifth day, has impacted an area of 81 kilometers in perimeter. Overnight, firefighting teams managed to contain the fire's advance and consolidate fronts, as reported by the head of the advanced command center, Fernando Kindelan. The most critical area is situated within the Espadà mountain range.
Aerial resources were able to operate this morning in El Montí and the area of the Santa Bárbara hermitage in Onda, which was once again threatened. In total, 1,200 ground personnel and 30 aerial units are working in rotating shifts, supported by an additional section of the Military Emergencies Unit.
Kindelan warned of the difficulty in making forecasts due to the dense forest mass, complicated terrain, and anticipated rise in temperatures.
Confinement and evacuation measures remain unchanged, affecting fourteen municipalities. 172 evacuated residents will be rehoused in the student residence of the Universitat Jaume Primer, the Penyeta Roja high-performance center in Castellón de la Plana, and the spa in La Vilavella. Another 138 people remain in designated centers in Segorbe, Onda, Nules, and Moncofa.
The President of the Generalitat, Juanfran Peréz Llorca, visited La Vilavella. Meanwhile, Caudiel and Montán are asking residents to be prepared for a possible evacuation. The Guardia Civil has deployed additional patrols to monitor the evacuated towns.
