The intervention, with a seven-month execution period, will focus on connecting large-diameter pipes from the roundabout of the indoor swimming pool to Camí Fondo and Plaça de la Generalitat Valenciana. This action will improve safety against torrential rain episodes in sensitive areas such as Escorredor and Finello.
The project includes the construction of a large manhole on Carretera del Puerto, from which a 1,800 mm diameter collector will run to Plaça de la Generalitat. A new network will also be created on Avinguda Jaume I, culminating in a storm tank near Camí Fondo. Inlets will be installed at critical points and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) will be incorporated.
With this award, the Gran Colector enters its final stage. This infrastructure, which has involved a historic investment of over 4.5 million euros by 2027, diverts rainwater at a depth of four meters to the Anna River. The project also includes water reuse for irrigation of green areas and leisure gardens through storm tanks.
The infrastructure features two storm tanks, one in Sant Blai and another larger one near Avinguda Cardenal Tarancon, which increase Burriana's drainage capacity. The goal is to ensure citizen safety and reduce the impact of torrential rains, especially in the maritime zone.
