The exhibition recovers the memory of Valencian spaces that during Franco's regime became centers for cultural encounters and intellectual exchange. The proposal, curated by Lara Sánchez Canet, is part of the VI edition of Activa Cultura and serves as a tribute to Artur Heras, who recently passed away.
The exhibition includes a descriptive section detailing the creation and evolution of MACVAC from its beginnings in the 1970s to the present day, spanning over half a century of history.
Currently, MACVAC in Vilafamés is undergoing a phase of institutional renewal that strengthens its position as a leading reference for contemporary art in the Valencian region and nationally. The museum has intensified its programming, fostering dialogue between its historical collection and current artistic practices, with a strong emphasis on exhibition and research projects.
The museum is committed to a model of a living institution, dedicated to critical thinking, cultural mediation, and the relationship between heritage, territory, and contemporary creation.
