The Councilor for Urban Planning of the Castelló City Council, Sergio Toledo, accompanied by the Councilor for Mobility, Gonzalo Romero, met with representatives of the educational community of CEIP Enric Soler i Godes. The meeting served to inform about the development of the Soler i Godes Execution Unit (UE), located in the vicinity of this school, between Marqués de Salamanca street, Travessia Quevedo, Alcalde Eduardo Codina street, and Pont de Ferro park.
The councilor explained that the works will substantially improve the school's surroundings, access, and road safety for students. The creation of a pedestrian access with a six-meter elevated walkway connecting to the Pont de Ferro Park was highlighted, an access protected by bollards that will improve circulation and be preferentially used by children in the Infant Education cycle.
Sergio Toledo emphasized the collaboration with the educational community and local residents, adapting the project to their demands. The Soler i Godes UE, spanning approximately 28,000 m², will include street paving with special material to reduce noise pollution.
Additionally, a new green area of over 1,800 m² will be created with children's play zones and a fitness area, along with benches, a fountain, and bicycle racks.
This Execution Unit also plans the construction of 439 homes, of which 236 will be public housing (53%). The project includes the completion of streets, bike lanes, and other basic services.
Toledo highlighted that the municipal government is consolidating this term as the 'legislature of housing,' with the construction of nearly 4,200 homes in the city, 40% of which are public housing, the expansion of the social housing stock, and aid for rent and rehabilitation.
The estimated investment for the Soler i Godes UE is approximately 1.8 million euros, with the completion of works scheduled for December, so that the educational community and local residents can enjoy the renovation after the Christmas holidays.
