Benicàssim City Council has awarded Facsa the comprehensive management of its sanitation system for 6.8 million euros over the next four years.

The company Facsa will be in charge of operating the treatment plant and maintaining Benicàssim's municipal sanitation system for the next four years, for a value of 6,802,434.89 euros.
The accepted bid, amounting to 6,128,031.71 euros excluding taxes, represents a saving of approximately 369,000 euros compared to the initial tender budget of 7,171,274.44 euros. Facsa was the only company to participate in the public tender, achieving a score of 92.76 points.
The contract covers not only the operation of the wastewater treatment plant (EDAR) but also the main collectors, pumping pipelines, pumping stations, the municipal sewage and stormwater network, and necessary actions on the outfall. It includes pumping stations such as La Ratlla and Mohino, as well as seven municipal stations.
One of the key requirements is the response to incidents, with a team available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with a maximum response time of two hours for cleaning and blockages, and less than one hour for sanitation facility incidents. Essential repairs must be completed within a maximum of 24 hours.
The new contract also includes the digitalization of the entire sanitation network, comprising approximately 125 kilometers of collectors. Facsa will have to develop a geographic information system (GIS) that includes data on pipes, wells, diameters, materials, and conservation status. This information will enable the creation of an Integral Sanitation System Management Plan within three years.
Furthermore, odor control will be enhanced, with continuous hydrogen sulfide measurements during the months of highest population pressure. The company will also conduct an energy audit in the first year and maintain Zero Emission vehicles.
The contract, which still needs to be formalized, will have an initial duration of four years, with a possible additional annual extension. This award pertains to the current maintenance and operation, and is separate from the project for the future new treatment plant of Benicàssim.
