The city of Castelló has launched the 2026-2027 program for the UNED Senior Classroom. A total of 25 students have enrolled in the courses held at the Senior Center for Active and Healthy Living, located at Antonio Maura Street, 4. This municipal space, dedicated to the well-being and participation of senior citizens, hosts this educational initiative.
The educational offering for this academic year includes up to 11 subjects, covering diverse areas such as Fine Arts, Art History, Artificial Intelligence, Philosophy, and the skill of Public Speaking with Confidence. The councilor for the elderly, Clara Adsuara, highlighted the importance of this center for expanding educational opportunities for seniors, creating a conducive environment for learning, sharing experiences, and fostering new social connections.
This educational proposal arrives in the city for the second consecutive year, resulting from the collaboration between the City Council of Castelló and the associated center of the UNED in Castelló. The new venue at the Senior Center takes over from the Casal Jove del Grau, where classes were held last academic year.
Adsuara emphasized that the commencement of these courses reinforces the municipal commitment to active and healthy aging. According to the councilor, continuous knowledge acquisition and enjoying culture in company are key to maintaining mental activity and strengthening social bonds among the senior population.
