The Culture Department of the Castellón City Council has inaugurated today at the Menador an exhibition exploring the city's historical relationship with solar eclipses.

The exhibition, titled Eclipsis en el fons bibliogràfic de l'Arxiu Municipal de Castelló, will remain open to the public until August 31st. Visitors can access the facilities from Monday to Sunday, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
The exhibition focuses on the scientific interest that the capital of La Plana has historically aroused. Special attention is given to the 1905 eclipse, which attracted international experts, including an English delegation led by H. L. Callender. As early as 1860, the city was a meeting point for researchers from various countries, who installed their instruments at iconic locations such as the Fadrí tower or the San Francisco convent.
Among the pieces on display are works from the late 15th century such as the Almanach perpetuum and the Tractat de coses d'astronomia i cosmographia i philosophia natural, published in 1573. The collection also includes illustrated magazines from the early 20th century and press clippings from the time that document the social fascination with these astronomical phenomena.
