The city of Castelló de la Plana is preparing to celebrate Hispanic Day with events open to all citizens, scheduled for October 10th and 11th. The event, under the motto "All that unites us", aims to highlight cultural diversity and foster coexistence among different communities.
Today's presentation was attended by the Councilor for Institutional Relations and Social Coexistence, Vicent Sales, and the Autonomous Secretary for Transparency and Participation, Carmen Uriol. Representatives from various cultural and neighborhood associations also participated, including Vicky Amores (Rafalafena Neighborhood Association), Luis Méndez (ASOVECAS), Yurisan Fernández (Viva Cuba), Sandra (Villacolombia Association), Martha València (Hispanoamérica Unida), Marcos Serra (Amb tu el Perú Association), and Elsa Andrea Barrales (Centre Cultural Món Artístic).
Organized by the Castelló City Council and the Valencian Government, with the collaboration of the Provincial Union of Associations of Castelló, the events will feature gastronomy, crafts, music, and traditional dances. Vicent Sales emphasized that the initiative seeks to "celebrate what unites us, value our diversity, and continue building a city where everyone has their space," highlighting the "human, cultural, and historical ties" between Spain and Latin America.
Carmen Uriol stressed the joint efforts and enthusiasm invested in this project, which brings "cultural and human richness that helps us grow together." Associations are recognized as "fundamental spaces for building coexistence" and "bridges between cultures," playing a key role in welcoming newcomers.
Saturday, October 10th's program will include typical Peruvian dances, Argentinean folklore, Colombian music, Cuban rumba, and Venezuelan rhythms, along with performances by the Spanish dance group from Rafalafena and acts like "El sabor de mis tambores" and "El latir de mi Tierra." Sunday, October 11th, will feature a proclamation by Salomé Guzmán Martí, an institutional ceremony, and an open class of Latin dances. The day will conclude with a parade at 6:00 PM from Plaza Mayor to Plaza Isabel Clara Simó, with representation from various countries, and a musical session by DJ Tavo.
