The municipality of Benlloc is participating in the CONAMA 2026 Awards with its 'Benlloc Circular' project, an initiative aiming for more sustainable, innovative, and participatory waste management.

The National Congress on the Environment (CONAMA) is a major state-level meeting on sustainability. Its awards recognize local initiatives that address environmental challenges and can serve as examples for other municipalities. Benlloc Circular presents a waste management model combining door-to-door collection, new technologies, environmental education, and citizen participation.
Thanks to the community's involvement, between 2021 and 2025, a 65.7% reduction in residual waste has been achieved, demonstrating that small towns can also be leaders in sustainability and circular economy.
The project is nominated in the category for municipalities under 5,000 inhabitants and for public vote recognition. To support Benlloc, users are asked to visit the Benlloc Circular post on CONAMA's Instagram, 'like' it, and share it with friends and family.
The full candidacy submitted to CONAMA can be viewed on the congress's official website.
