The match, which originated during the recent Film Festival of l’Alfàs del Pi, brought together two teams united by their passion for football and their commitment to a sport without barriers. The Councilor for Social Welfare, Marisa Cortés, accompanied the teams, highlighting the value of initiatives like this to promote inclusion and the participation of all people in the sporting and social life of the municipality.
Cortés stated that "sport has an enormous capacity to unite people, break down prejudices, and demonstrate that the important thing is to participate and enjoy as a team." She also valued the work of Titanes Sin Barreras and the involvement of Ciruelas Claudias in an initiative that conveys values of equality and respect.
The day went beyond the match, with a coexistence experience that included a joint meal in an atmosphere of friendship. Ciruelas Claudias gifted Titanes Sin Barreras a commemorative scarf, and Titanes presented a plaque of gratitude. FEDI-CV also presented a medal to each Titanes player.
During the event, Titanes Sin Barreras named Manolo Jiménez an honorary member. The origin of the encounter dates back to a discussion at the Film Festival of l’Alfàs del Pi, where Titanes members challenged actresses Sofía de Iznájar and Bruna Lucadamo to a match. Sofía de Iznájar attended, while Bruna Lucadamo could not due to transport issues.
Titanes Sin Barreras, celebrating its third anniversary, has 25 players with functional diversity from eight municipalities in the region. The team trains twice a week and plays a monthly match in the FEDI-CV league, using football as a tool for inclusion.
Ciruelas Claudias was founded in Madrid after the filming of the movie ‘Pioneras. Solo querían jugar’, an amateur women's team that keeps alive the spirit of fighting for equality in sports.
The film ‘Pioneras. Solo querían jugar’, directed by Marta Díaz de Lope Díaz, revisits the story of the first women who played football in Spain in the seventies and received the Silver Biznaga Audience Award at the Málaga Festival.
The encounter connected two initiatives with the same vision of sport as an open space for all people, reinforcing coexistence and raising awareness about functional diversity and equal opportunities.
