The town has successfully hosted the fourth edition of the Pura Vida International Wellbeing Congress, establishing itself as a key meeting point for professionals and enthusiasts in health, physical exercise, and quality of life. The event attracted around 300 participants.
Among the notable speakers, Dr. César Chaves, an expert in Physical Activity and Health, offered insights into how daily decisions impact future autonomy and quality of life. Chaves emphasized the significance of daily habits and consistent physical activity throughout all life stages to face the coming decades with better health.
The doctor highlighted the importance of staying active, explaining why exercise is crucial for reaching 30 years and beyond in optimal condition. He analyzed the physical changes associated with aging, such as the loss of strength, speed, and power, and proposed strategies to mitigate them and delay aging.
Chaves underscored the importance of both aerobic and strength training, noting that both are fundamental. He pointed out that strength training requires adequate loads and sometimes rapid movements, aspects not always included in programs for the elderly. However, he conveyed a positive message, stating that practicing cardiovascular exercise, sports like tennis, or strength and speed training is already doing well.
The specialist reminded attendees that healthy longevity depends on multiple factors, including genetics, healthcare services, biotechnology, and luck. Nevertheless, he stressed that lifestyle is the most modifiable aspect and the one for which we bear the most responsibility. His presentation combined rigorous scientific evidence with accessible language, debunking myths and promoting exercise as key to active aging.
The congress highlighted the crucial role of promoting active aging to prevent dependency and ensure that increased life expectancy is accompanied by optimal vitality. Encouraging regular adapted physical exercise, proper nutrition, and healthy habits from an early age are key to maintaining physical and mental autonomy over the years.
The Councilor for Health of the L'Alfàs del Pi City Council, Marisa Cortés, gave a very positive assessment of the edition, emphasizing participant engagement and the high caliber of speakers. Cortés noted that the reflections on how to care for ourselves today for tomorrow's wellbeing perfectly embody the spirit of L'Alfàs as a municipality dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyle habits.
With the conclusion of this edition, which covered topics such as strength training, longevity, and sector innovation, L'Alfàs del Pi reaffirms its commitment to comprehensive wellbeing, blending educational rigor with citizen participation.
