The renovation of the presbytery at the Parish of San José in l’Alfàs del Pi concluded with the blessing of the works on September 27th. These interventions have renewed the configuration of this central area of the church, restoring greater spaciousness and visual harmony.
One of the most significant improvements was the restoration of the Blessed Sacrament tabernacle, an element that had been removed in previous renovations. Its reinstatement aims to provide a dignified place for Eucharistic adoration, particularly relevant for the upcoming 40 Hours Devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, scheduled for November 7th, 8th, and 9th during the town's main festivities.
Among the improvements made, the removal of an upper step that visually reduced the presbytery's size stands out. Additionally, the altar table has been moved to the center, emphasizing its importance as the focal point of the Eucharist celebration. The renovation is completed with the installation of a new ambo made of red Alicante marble, intended for the proclamation of the Word of God.
The project, presided over by the Vicar General of the Diocese of Orihuela-Alicante, Miguel Ángel Cerezo Saura, is not merely architectural or aesthetic. It seeks to enhance the experience of the liturgical space, highlighting the key elements of the celebration: the altar, the ambo, and the space for the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
