The initiative, promoted by the Department of Animal Protection, seeks to balance the enjoyment of celebrations with respect for animal welfare. The Councilor for Animal Protection, Luis Morant, emphasized the importance of citizens knowing the schedules of pyrotechnic events to organize and take precautions.
The decree outlines the calendar of main events featuring pyrotechnic material. This Friday, November 6, coinciding with the opening speech of the festivities, pyrotechnic elements will be used between 8:30 PM and 10:00 PM at the Casa de Cultura.
The 'despertàs' (wake-up calls) are scheduled for November 7, 8, 9, and 10, between 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM. On Monday, November 9, at 11:00 PM, the Correfocs (fire run) will take place, while on Tuesday, November 10, at 10:00 PM, the nocturnal mascletà (firecracker show) will be held on Avenida de la Constitución. The calendar also warns of the use of firecrackers and sparklers during street parades.
The Department of Animal Protection reminds that animals can experience fear, stress, and anxiety due to loud noises. Therefore, it is recommended to keep them in safe indoor spaces, close doors and windows, avoid leaving them alone, and provide a calm environment. It is also advisable not to take them to the locations where these shows take place.
The decree includes a section on responsibility in the use of pyrotechnic material, especially with minors, reminding the need for written authorization from legal guardians and the presence of an adult. To participate in activities like the 'cordà', correfoc, and 'despertà', completing the CRE training course is mandatory.
Luis Morant stressed the importance of citizen collaboration for respectful festivities, highlighting that pets are part of families and deserve their needs to be considered.
