The Local Police Station hosted the meeting where action protocols were established and the work of different security forces was coordinated. The objective is to ensure the smooth running of festive events and the safety of both residents and visitors.
The meeting was attended by the sub-secretary of the Government in the province of Alicante, Manuel Pineda; the mayor of L'Alfàs del Pi, Vicente Arques; the councilor for Citizen Security, Toni Such; and the councilor for Festivities and Traditions, Sandra Gómez. Command staff from the Civil Guard from Altea, Alicante, and Calpe also participated, as well as representatives from the National Police, Regional Police, and the Local Police of L'Alfàs del Pi.
For the festivities, the City Council has requested reinforcements from the Civil Guard to intensify surveillance in urbanizations and support the security device during peak attendance times. The Regional Police will collaborate in controlling alcohol sales to minors, and the National Police will be available to reinforce the operation if necessary.
The councilor for Citizen Security, Toni Such, highlighted the importance of early planning: “Coordination between the different security forces is fundamental to prevent potential incidents and ensure that both residents and visitors can enjoy the festivities with peace of mind.” Such also emphasized the need to adapt resources to the characteristics and attendance of each activity, especially during large-scale events.
The Citizen Security Board is usually held before the patron saint festivities to plan the response of security forces. The meeting reviews coordination procedures and specifies the necessary measures to prevent incidents and facilitate the celebrations.
This year, the special security device will be reinforced for the Seguridad Social concert, scheduled for Sunday, November 8th, at 00:00. Access to this free concert will be limited to available capacity, so a specific operation has been designed to manage attendance.
“"The concert requires specific planning due to the expected attendance and limited capacity. Therefore, we are working to organize access and coordinate the intervention of the different services, so that the event proceeds safely."
During the Board meeting, the evolution of security data in the municipality was also analyzed. Toni Such noted a downward trend in domestic violence cases, while telematic crimes have increased by 19% and the number of arrested and investigated individuals has grown by 20%. Such highlighted the importance of maintaining police coordination and reinforcing prevention measures.
Coordination between security forces is essential to anticipate incidents and provide a joint response during festivities that attract large crowds. With this meeting, the L'Alfàs del Pi City Council advances in the preparation of the festivities to ensure their normal development with safety guarantees for all.
