The initiative, promoted by the departments of Social Welfare and Health, offers a wide range of options to stimulate memory, creativity, and motor skills, as well as to foster social relationships. Councilor Marisa Cortés encouraged participation, highlighting the municipal commitment to improving the population's quality of life.
The workshops take place in different venues and times: Mondays and Wednesdays, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, at the Hogar del Pensionista, and Thursdays, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, at the Centro Social Platja Albir. The program coordination, for the ninth consecutive year, is led by T’Ajudem a Créixer, with José Luis León at the helm.
The physical activity program includes gentle exercises for strength, endurance, coordination, and balance, as well as walks and joint mobility exercises, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the covered court of the Polideportivo/Pavilion. Pilates-Postural Hygiene is also offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the same venue.
Additionally, activities such as Healthy Dance (Tuesdays, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM, at the Hogar del Pensionista) and Inclusive Dance (Thursdays, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM, at the gymnasium of the Colegio Santo Cristo) are planned, along with specific attention for individuals with cognitive decline (Tuesdays, 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM, at the Hogar del Pensionista), in collaboration with the AFA Marina Baixa Association.
The City Council, affiliated with the WHO's Age-Friendly Cities Network since 2017, aims to create inclusive environments that promote active and healthy aging, breaking down barriers and fostering solidarity.
