The Provincial Council of Alicante has granted the Villajoyosa City Council a subsidy for the development of the 4th Municipal Equality Plan for Opportunities between women and men (2026-2030). The amount of 1,434.04 euros will cover the diagnostic and development tasks for the new municipal strategic plan.
The Councilor for Social Services and Equality, Maite Sánchez, explained that the new plan will succeed the previous regulatory framework, approved in January 2022, and will extend its scope to the entire municipal population of 34,828 residents (17,569 women and 17,259 men).
Technical assistance and methodological development will be provided by the external consulting team Sequoia Pro, under the technical direction of Clara García Sanvicente, a sociologist specializing in equality policies.
The councilor indicated that the plan's development process will involve participatory phases, including focus groups, interviews, surveys, and street-level actions. Following the formation of the Steering Group and meetings of the Equality Commission, data collection and analysis will lead to a final diagnostic report.
Subsequently, after the summer period, the municipal corporation will draft and integrate strategic measures for final approval by the Municipal Plenary. Councilor Maite Sánchez emphasized that this initiative reaffirms the City Council's commitment to eradicating gender inequalities and consolidating inclusive public policies.
