Villajoyosa is preparing for the second edition of “Wine&Fish”, a gastronomic event taking place in the gardens of the Barbera dels Aragonés park. The event, aimed at offering a unique afternoon centered around local flavors, will commence on Friday, September 18th, at 6:30 PM.
The day will include a wine watercolor contest at 7:00 PM, followed by the grand finale of the I Carlos Llorca Baus Contest for young Mediterranean cuisine talents at 8:00 PM. Three chefs will face a surprise box, provided by the Villajoyosa Fishermen's Guild, to create a dish that impresses the jury. The Councilor for Tourism and Commerce, Rosa Llorca, emphasized that the contest pays tribute to Carlos Llorca Baus, a driving force behind 'La Vila Gastronòmica', and supports emerging talents using zero-kilometer products.
During the event, the white shrimp of Villajoyosa will be a highlight. There will be a significant presence of wineries showcasing their products, alongside representatives from the local restaurant sector and the Municipal Market, offering various culinary creations.
At 8:30 PM, the awards for the wine watercolor contest will be presented. Later, from 10:30 PM to 12:30 AM, attendees can enjoy a mojito bar and a DJ set.
The event is organized by the Departments of Commerce and Tourism, in collaboration with Bodegas Fincal, and receives institutional support from Turisme de la Generalitat Valenciana, L’Exquisit Mediterrani, the Provincial Council of Alicante, GALP La Marina, VilaGourmet, the Mercat, and the Cofradía de Pescadores de La Vila Joiosa.
The 'Wine&Fish' week also includes two pairing menus at local restaurants on September 16th and 17th. Advance tickets are priced at 20 euros until September 16th, while on the day of the event, they will cost 25 euros. The ticket includes a commemorative glass, four wine tastings, a mojito, and a raffle ticket.
Councilor Rosa Llorca highlighted that 'Wine & Fish' demonstrates Villajoyosa's ability to value its roots while creating new gastronomic experiences, thereby boosting economic activity and promoting the town as a tourist destination.
