From August 17 to 22, Villajoyosa hosts the 'Cinema al Carrer' cycle, which will screen six Spanish films awarded at the 2026 Goya Awards in the old town.

From August 17 to August 22, the old town of Villajoyosa will transform into an open-air cinema. The most outstanding Spanish films, including works nominated or awarded at the 2026 Goya Awards ceremony, will be screened.
The feature films to be shown are La Cena, Cautivo, Tigres, Mi amiga Eva, Los Domingos, and Sirat. One film will be screened each day at 9:00 PM.
This initiative, organized by the Old Town Association in collaboration with the Department of Culture, celebrates its 26th anniversary this year. The 'Cinema al Carrer' cycle is one of the most emblematic cultural activities in the historic neighborhood.
Screenings will take place on Carrer Costereta. Access is free and open to the public until full capacity is reached, offering the chance to enjoy cinema under the stars.
The initiative began in 1999 with the screening of Los jueves, milagro, by Luis García Berlanga, in the Plaza de la Iglesia. Since then, 'Cinema al Carrer' has become a symbol of the Old Town as a vibrant and welcoming cultural space, thanks to the voluntary efforts of the residents.
