The esplanade of the House of Culture in L’Alfàs del Pi will become a major intercultural meeting point this Sunday, October 25th, with the celebration of the 19th International Day. The event, which will bring together more than 50 associations from nearly 30 countries, will offer a journey through the flavors, music, dances, and traditions of various cultures in a free festival open to all citizens.
Visitors can stroll through the different stands, learn about the customs and traditions of the international communities residing in the municipality, and enjoy gastronomic tastings. Music and dance will set the rhythm for a day that invites the discovery of other cultures in a close, participatory, and fun way. The event is organized by the Department of International Residents and the Pangea Office.
This year, the international dimension will be enhanced by the presence of institutional delegations from Lescar (France) and Covarrubias (Burgos), towns twinned with L’Alfàs del Pi. The attendance of the Norwegian Ambassador to Spain, Lars Andersen, is also planned, recognizing the historical and cultural relationship between the Scandinavian country and the municipality.
The delegation from Lescar, led by its mayor, Valérie Revel, will include the Big Band de la Cité des Arts. From Covarrubias, a delegation led by its mayor, Raúl Gredilla, will travel. The presence of the Norwegian ambassador underscores the prominence of the Scandinavian community, one of the largest in the municipality.
L’Alfàs del Pi is home to residents from almost a hundred nationalities, a diversity highlighted in this celebration, which has been consolidated since 2007 as one of the major multicultural festivals in the Marina Baixa region. The City Council invites everyone to join this day to celebrate the richness that arises from living together among cultures.
