This new regulatory framework aims to provide the municipality with updated planning that ensures legal certainty and stability. The document seeks to overcome the past model of residential dispersion, opting for more compact growth around the urban centers of Altea and Altea la Vella, thereby facilitating access to services and public facilities.
One of the most notable measures is the protection of over eight million square meters, which are now classified as non-developable land. This classification will help preserve the environmental and landscape value of the mountain areas within the municipal boundaries.
The plan also reserves space for necessary future infrastructure, such as the expansion of sports facilities on Camí de l'Algar, a new cemetery, a funeral home, and a municipal eco-park. Regarding economic activity, the goal is to concentrate industrial development in Montahud, organizing tertiary and industrial uses to ensure compatibility with the conservation of the natural environment.
