A festive event like the procession of Mare de Déu del Carme in Moraira suffered a "highly unpleasant" incident when, as the municipal corporation paraded down Almacenes street, someone threw a bucket of water with fecal matter from a small window. The act affected several councillors, from both the governing team and the opposition, who had to go home to shower and change.
Witnesses indicated that the perpetrator initially intended to spray the entire council from a balcony but ultimately chose to throw the nauseating contents from a smaller window. The incident left those present stunned and saddened, as it spoiled the procession and festivities that belong to the entire town.
This morning, commissions were held at the Teulada Moraira Town Hall to report the attack to the Guardia Civil and identify the perpetrator. It is considered intolerable that a festival reflecting Moraira's maritime devotion should be stained in this way. The need to issue an official statement condemning these acts, seen as an attack on coexistence, was also highlighted.
