Marina Alta faces a new extreme heatwave starting Wednesday, July 15th, with alerts activated for temperatures that could exceed 40 degrees.

After a brief respite, Marina Alta is once again on alert for extreme heat. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated a yellow alert for this Wednesday, July 15th, the day when the highest temperatures are expected. Forecasts point to values above 40º on the coast and at least 36º inland, with orange alerts in neighboring regions like Safor or Comtat.
According to MeteoParcent, a DANA located west of the Iberian Peninsula will cause a mass of very warm air from North Africa to generate this new heatwave. Peaks exceeding 40 °C are anticipated. The trend will be a progressive rise in temperatures until mid-week, followed by a slight decrease over the weekend, with maximums remaining above 32 °C and minimums above 20 °C.
Experts highlight the abnormality of consecutive heatwaves since the end of May. MeteoParcent indicates that next week could bring another heatwave, affecting the entire Iberian Peninsula. This period coincides with the canicular period (July 15th - August 15th), which statistically concentrates the highest summer temperatures.
MeteoRed confirms the forecast, adding that a warm air mass laden with Saharan dust will leave hazy skies and favor very warm nights, with high minimums on the Mediterranean coast and the Balearic Islands. The extreme heat could extend beyond the weekend, with occasional relief from afternoon thunderstorms.
This situation coincides with the first 30 ºC mark recorded this summer in the Spanish Mediterranean, reached by the SOCIB buoy in Pollença (Mallorca), similar to Caribbean values. This will increase the feeling of mugginess and favor the persistence of tropical or torrid nights on the Mediterranean coast and the Balearic Islands.
