The Marina Alta region endured a historic night due to heat this Thursday, July 16th, with temperatures not dropping below 35 degrees Celsius at midnight or dawn, reaching 37 degrees in locations like La Vall d’Ebo.

Data from Avamet confirms that the region was like a true oven throughout the early morning, offering no thermal respite at any moment. At 00:30 AM, Dénia already registered 35 degrees, while other municipalities such as Pedreguer, Ondara, Orba, and Murla marked 32 degrees. By 4:30 AM, the temperature rose to 35 degrees in Parcent and 34 degrees in Calp, reaching 37 degrees in La Vall d’Ebo by 6:25 AM.
These figures indicate an equatorial night for the entire Marina Alta, especially after a Wednesday already marked by temperatures exceeding 40 degrees, which triggered a yellow alert. The feeling is one of desperation upon realizing that, after such an extreme day, the hot oven remained on throughout the night.
The bad news is that the heatwave will persist. Both this Thursday and tomorrow, Friday, the Marina Alta will remain on yellow alert due to the high temperatures. Although a slight decrease is expected for the weekend, the mugginess is anticipated to continue next week, with maximums potentially reaching 42 degrees in the northern inland area of the region on Monday, July 20th.
