The complex rescue operation, which will be carried out without impacting the coastline, includes dismantling its 26-meter, thousand-kilogram mast. Subsequently, two consecutive lifts of the vessel, weighing around 20 tons without the mast, will be performed to finally place it on a trailer for transport to the shipyards.
A 60-ton crane, positioned on a gravel bed to protect the public maritime-terrestrial domain, will be responsible for moving the sailboat. The first lift will bring it to the edge of the slope, and the second will hoist it onto the trailer, which will transport it by road. The Xàbia City Council has stipulated that the work must be carried out outside the summer season, specifically from October 13 onwards.
The sailboat, known as 'Bau bau', was previously seized for drug trafficking and later purchased at auction by its current owner. It has become a tourist attraction in Xàbia, drawing hundreds of curious onlookers who come to photograph it.
Costas's authorization is valid for one year, and the rescue operation must be completed within five days. The file has been processed urgently, requiring reports from various administrations such as the Xàbia City Council, Maritime Captaincy, and the Generalitat Valenciana.
Once the sailboat is removed, all materials used for the ramp and crane platform must be cleaned up, leaving the Primer Muntanyar section intact, as if the vessel had vanished without a trace.
