A 69-year-old mountain biker was rescued today from the Barranc de l'Infern, in Vall de Laguar, after an accident while descending a trail led him to the dry riverbed. The man was disoriented, exhausted, and without water. The route, known for its difficulty, has signs prohibiting mountain bike descents in some sections.
The Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium received the alert at 11:36 AM. A special rescue team, with helicopter Alpha 01, was dispatched to the scene. They located the cyclist at the bottom of the ravine and hoisted him into the aircraft.
During the transfer to the Sant Vicent fire station, he was given abundant water to rehydrate him. The cyclist did not suffer any injuries. The rescue concluded at 12:46 PM.
