A 50-year-old cyclist was seriously injured this Saturday in Xàbia after falling off his bicycle on a rural road, suffering multiple contusions that left him unable to move.

One of the companions who went to assist him suffered a fainting spell, possibly due to the high temperatures being recorded in the Marina Alta region.
Firefighters from the Xàbia station and a rescue team with a helicopter were dispatched to the area, which is difficult to access. Both injured individuals received medical attention at the accident site.
The cyclist with multiple contusions was eventually transported to the Hospital de Dénia by ambulance.
