A fire has broken out in Beniarbeig, the fourth blaze in 72 hours in the Marina Alta, affecting an area of dense vegetation and reeds next to the Girona River.

The Marina Alta continues to suffer the consequences of the heatwave with a new fire declared in Beniarbeig. This is the fourth fire recorded in the region in just three days, in an area of dense vegetation, reeds, and very dry scrubland, located next to the Girona River.
The flames, which started around 3:27 PM between two regional roads (the CV-729 and CV-731), initially mobilized two aerial units and firefighters from the Dénia regional park. Later, a third aerial unit was sent, and the fire was reclassified as a forest fire. The affected area is close to some buildings.
After two hours of intense work, firefighters managed to stabilize the blaze at 5:18 PM, according to the Provincial Firefighters Consortium. The situation was exacerbated by adverse weather conditions, with highs reaching 40 degrees Celsius inland in the region and winds picking up in the early afternoon.
This fire adds to those that occurred in the last three days: a severe one in Dénia on Tuesday, which forced the confinement of properties and the evacuation of a restaurant; a small fire in Xàbia; and another in a scrapyard in El Verger on Wednesday.
