Due to the unusual red alert declared by Aemet for this Wednesday, August 19, from 1 PM to 9 PM in the Marina Alta region, the Cecopal of Dénia convened to establish extraordinary measures. The primary measure involves restricting outdoor activities to prevent exposure during the most dangerous hours.
The prohibition of outdoor sports activities in municipal facilities between 12 PM and 9 PM has been enacted. Additionally, the 8 PM gymnastics sessions of the «Deporte en la playa» program have been suspended, along with the afternoon guided tour of the Castle (8 PM). The Biblioplayas at La Marineta and Les Albaranes will close at 12 PM.
On the social front, Cruz Roja (Red Cross) will implement measures for the homeless, with an open reception point at its local headquarters where water will be distributed. Furthermore, a map of the city's public fountains has been disseminated, located in children's parks, Via Verda, and the les Bassetes park, to facilitate access to drinking water.
As climate shelters, the city council has designated ten air-conditioned public spaces, including the Juan Chabás Library, the Casa de la Cultura (with its reading agency and children's library), the Centro Social, the Museu de la Mar, the Museu del Joguet, the Museu Etnològic, the Centre d’Interpretació del Castell, and the Museu Arqueològic, with extended opening hours to offer respite from the high temperatures.
Moreover, due to the Pre-emergency Level 3 for forest fire risk declared by the Generalitat Valenciana from this Wednesday until Friday, August 21, the Montgó natural park will be closed, along with its trails and forest areas. Local Police, National Police, and Civil Protection will collaborate in monitoring access points.
