The town of Bunyol hosted the 51st edition of Mà a Mà last Saturday, a musical event that pits the two musical societies of the municipality against each other: the Artistic Musical Society (los Feos) and the Harmonic Musical Instruction Center (el Litro). More than 300 musicians took to the stage of the Municipal Auditorium of Sant Lluís.
This gathering, now in its 51st edition, is characterized as a strictly artistic duel, with no jury, prizes, or official ranking. The historical rivalry between the two ensembles is expressed through music, making it one of the most prestigious band duels on the national scene.
Mà a Mà was born in 1974 and has established itself as one of the most important cultural events in Bunyol. Many professional musicians who grew up in the town, and now develop their careers elsewhere, return every summer to participate, demonstrating the town's strong connection to music, with over 300 professional musicians spread across Spain and abroad.
In this edition, La Artística presented the program Entre dos aguas, while La Armónica offered Horizontes. El viaje permanente de la humanidad. The evening, presented by À Punt journalist Rosa Romero, concluded with the performance of the Hymn of Bunyol.
This event, declared a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest, keeps the band's musical tradition alive as one of the main identity markers of Bunyol.
