The incident occurred around 2 PM and initially affected all lanes heading towards Xàtiva, causing approximately two kilometers of congestion, according to the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT). Traffic was disrupted during the accident response and recovery efforts.
This event follows closely behind a similar incident on the same highway near Vallada, which also caused kilometer-long jams and lane closures. The A-35, a key road corridor connecting Xàtiva with Albacete, has seen several serious accidents in recent months, some with fatalities.
As early as July 21st, reports highlighted the high accident rate on this road, which had recorded three deaths since early June in the Costera region, making it the road with the highest traffic fatality rate in the area. Another accident on July 23rd near Moixent also resulted in two kilometers of traffic jams.
