Xirivella City Council has closed the 2025 fiscal year free of bank debt, a milestone that will enable it to undertake major projects and improve residents' lives with an investment of nearly seven million euros.

The Xirivella City Council has finished 2025 with no outstanding bank loans, having settled all previous credit agreements. This financial strength allows the council to maintain public services, invest in the town's improvement, and embark on significant projects such as the construction of the new Gregori Mayans school and the creation of a refuge-auditorium.
The initial budget for investments in 2025 was approximately 1.5 million euros. However, throughout the year, additional resources were incorporated, increasing the final allocation to nearly seven million euros. These funds will be directed towards neighborhood improvements, upgrades to sports facilities, accessibility enhancements, public safety initiatives, and the renovation of municipal buildings.
“

"Municipal savings are meant to improve the lives of residents. We decided to put these resources to work in Xirivella, rather than letting them sit idle, and we did so while eliminating all bank debt and maintaining sound finances."

Paqui Bartual · Mayor
During the latest council meeting, the municipality approved the Economic-Financial Plan for 2026 and 2027. This plan, mandated by fiscal regulations following the 2025 liquidation results concerning the spending rule, does not include any service cuts or tax increases as a consequence of its implementation. According to the Councilor for Finance, Pilar Ureña, the financial situation is cyclical, linked to extraordinary circumstances like the dana event in 2024 and the calculation method for the spending rule, and does not indicate a structural problem.
The Councilor for Finance emphasized that Xirivella possesses the economic and administrative capacity to continue providing its services and drive necessary investments. In addition to its own investments, the City Council manages projects funded by other administrations and European funds, which are crucial elements for the realization of the new Gregori Mayans school and the refuge-auditorium.
“

"Securing funds is just the first step. To turn them into a school or an auditorium, projects must be drafted, tendered, grants managed, and solvency ensured for execution. That is the management we are undertaking to make Xirivella's major projects a reality."
