Since October 24th, Paiporta has offered a new alternative leisure space on Saturday mornings for children and teenagers. The 'Corresponsable Saturdays' program, driven by the Equality service and the UPCA of the City Council, aims to facilitate family conciliation during weekends and provide attractive activities for young people free of charge.
The offering is divided into playful and participatory workshops for two age groups: 10 to 12 years old and 13 to 16 years old. The activities are designed to stimulate creativity, coexistence, equality, and good habits in a dynamic and fun environment.
The workshops will also address key topics for adolescent development, such as promoting healthy relationships, preventing sexist behavior (both online and offline), and fostering responsible use of new technologies. Topics will include preventing the abusive use of screens and social media, the risks of violent video games from a gender perspective, and addiction prevention, including the consumption of e-cigarettes, tobacco, and other substances, with content adapted to each age group.
The program includes group dynamics, role-playing games, and workshops for designing and customizing materials such as tote bags, badges, and notebooks.
The Councilor for Social Welfare, Maje López, highlighted the importance of providing resources that help families organize their care responsibilities while offering attractive alternatives for adolescents. 'We want to help families balance their weekends and offer children and teenagers spaces to enjoy their free time, socialize, and learn through dynamic and educational activities,' she stated.
López also emphasized the educational dimension of the project, promoting values such as equality, respect, and co-responsibility from a young age, with proposals that connect with their interests.
For his part, the mayor of Paiporta, Vicent Ciscar, reiterated the municipal commitment to public policies that support families and citizen well-being. 'Conciliation is a challenge that requires resources and collective involvement. We are working to promote initiatives that help families in their daily lives and, at the same time, generate educational and socialization opportunities for children and adolescents,' he affirmed.
Ciscar also stressed the importance of promoting equal opportunities and co-responsibility at the local level, aiming for a more balanced distribution of family responsibilities and strengthening municipal support resources.
The sessions will take place on Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Centre Conviu (Mestre Serrano street, 23). The scheduled dates are October 24th and 31st; November 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th; and December 5th, 12th, and 19th.
Participation is free, with limited places. Priority will be given to families meeting the requirements of the Ministry of Equality's Corresponsables Plan. Families can select all the workshops they need and must complete the registration form available at the following link: Registration form.
