The Manises City Council has commenced preliminary work for an improvement and conservation project at the Manises Ceramics Museum. This initiative is crucial for resolving significant humidity issues that have affected the municipal building for years.
The Councilor for Culture, Xavier Morant, has emphasized the importance of this intervention in ensuring the preservation of a key site for the local ceramic heritage. Morant noted that the humidity problems have considerably impacted the pavement, necessitating a solution that not only repairs the damage but also addresses the root cause.
The works will involve replacing the entrance pavement, which shows significant deterioration due to humidity. Underfloor chambers will be installed to facilitate humidity evacuation and enhance the building's overall conservation conditions. Additionally, multi-frequency devices emitting low-frequency signals will be incorporated to impede moisture's ascent in the walls, operating similarly to a Wi-Fi system. The entrance door will also be replaced to improve the facility's security and sustainability.
Currently, a precise reopening date for the museum cannot be established. The construction of the underfloor chambers requires excavation, and as the museum is located in an archaeologically protected zone, the work necessitates an archaeological intervention. Any potential findings will need to be assessed by professionals, which could lead to temporary work stoppages for study purposes.
Through this initiative, the Manises City Council aims to ensure better conservation and safety conditions for one of the city's most significant ceramic heritage sites, thereby addressing the humidity problems that have caused pavement deterioration.
