The Torrent City Council has received Ministry approval for a €35.96 million project to reconstruct the Poio and l'Horteta ravines, which were affected by recent heavy rains.

The initiative will primarily focus on the Xenillet neighborhood, adjacent to the Poio ravine, and the area around Sant Lluís Beltrán street, near the l'Horteta ravine. The project encompasses bank stabilization, flood protection, street reurbanization, recovery of green spaces, and repair of road infrastructure, with an estimated execution period of 24 months.
The interventions will be divided into five sections along the ravine beds, from downstream to upstream, covering approximately 1,849 meters of banks. Complementary actions will be included for communication routes, such as the rehabilitation of the municipal road CV-4064 connecting Torrent with Picanya, which was affected by flooding and mud accumulation.
The first phase, with a budget of €2.6 million, will focus on the area upstream of the CV-403 bridge, where the recent storm caused landslides on the right bank of the Poio ravine. The second intervention, valued at €2 million, will address both banks of the Poio ravine with a gravity stone revetment wall approximately 275 meters long and 10 meters high.
A key point is the third section, located between the old Alaquàs bridge and the CEIP Juan XXIII footbridge, where the stabilization of 639 meters of bank is planned using a stone revetment wall, with an estimated cost of €4.9 million. The works also include the repair of the CV-4064 road, which suffered flooding and mud deposits.
Concurrently, the Xirivella City Council has requested the Hydrographic Confederation of the Júcar (CHX) for immediate cleaning and conditioning of the Turia riverbed as it passes through the municipality. This request stems from the accumulation of weeds and vegetation, and the increased risks associated with extreme weather events and forest fires, such as the recent one in the Carraixet ravine.
