Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) has installed a sunshade on one of the platforms at the Picanya station. This action comes just weeks after users and residents reported a lack of sun protection, a situation that led to protests and was covered by local media.
Until now, the station had very few shaded areas, which was particularly criticized after its reopening in the middle of summer. The new cover now allows travelers to shelter while waiting for trains.
Complaints focused on the high temperatures users endured daily, demanding an urgent solution. This situation arose despite the significant investment made to rebuild the infrastructure, which was severely damaged by the DANA on October 29th and resumed service a year ago.
Users pointed out that, despite the reconstruction, no sun protection element had been included, even though temperatures have exceeded 40 degrees Celsius during the summer months. With this new structure, FGV addresses one of the main demands, although it remains to be seen if its size will be sufficient for peak demand.
