The events took place yesterday afternoon, around 4:30 PM, in a department housing repeat and conflictive inmates. According to the information provided, the dispute began when one group of inmates attacked others, triggering a mass brawl in the courtyard where furniture was used as weapons.
The situation required the intervention of officers from other departments to restore order. Previously, during the morning, another dispute had already occurred between the same groups in the commissary area.
As a result of the assault, two inmates suffered facial and jaw injuries, for which they had to be transferred to the General Hospital for specialized medical attention.
“"The lack of doctors not only causes care problems, but also has serious implications for security within the penitentiary center."
The Acaip-UGT union has criticized that isolation measures could not be applied to those responsible due to the absence of medical staff at the center yesterday, an essential requirement under current regulations to apply disciplinary restrictions.
