The European Mobility Week arrives in Benetússer with an extensive program of activities designed to promote sustainable mobility and universal accessibility. The events will run from Wednesday, September 16, to Tuesday, September 22, coinciding with World Car-Free Day.
The program kicks off on Wednesday, September 16, with a film forum at the Centre Cultural El Molí, screening the film ‘Traffic’ by Jacques Tati. The following day, Thursday, September 17, the activity ‘Benetússer Camina’ (Benetússer Walks) will take place, with a route focusing on universal accessibility, starting from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento (City Hall Square).
On Friday, September 18, the Nou Espai will host the urban art workshop ‘Mobilitza’t per la mobilitat’ (Mobilize for Mobility), aimed at young people. The weekend begins on Saturday, September 19, with the ‘Jornada sobre rodes’ (Wheeled Day) at the Plaça de la Xapa (Xapa Square), a fun and educational activity for children using bicycles, skates, scooters, and wheelchairs. In the afternoon, ‘La bicicleta verde’ (The Green Bicycle) will be screened at the Centre Cultural El Molí.
On Sunday, September 20, the ‘Ring Ring’ initiative proposes a bike ride through l'Horta Sud (the southern orchard region) to Catarroja, starting from the “El Campanero” parking lot. A participatory session on public transport will be held on Monday, September 21, in the Sala de plens de l’Ajuntament (City Hall Plenum Room), where problems will be analyzed and improvements proposed for daily public transport use, presenting leading sustainable mobility projects in Horta Sud.
On Tuesday, September 22, World Car-Free Day, the campaign ‘Compra local i pensa global!’ (Shop local and think global!) will take place at the Nou Espai. Customers making purchases over €15 in local shops and hospitality businesses in Benetússer can enter a raffle to win three bicycles. Tickets can be collected at the Nou Espai reception from September 16 to 22 during morning hours.
