Representatives from the different political groups of the Benetússer City Council have today visited the site of the municipality's main reconstruction projects. The day allowed municipal representatives to receive direct explanations from technicians and work managers regarding progress, next steps, and any modifications to certain projects.
This initiative is part of the monitoring and transparency commitment undertaken by the municipal government since the beginning of the reconstruction following the DANA storm. Approximately one year ago, a special monitoring commission was established, representing all parties with a presence in the City Council, which is regularly updated on the progress of various actions.
Today's visit aimed to complement this monitoring of files and projects by bringing it to the ground. Representatives were able to access the facilities, directly observe the progress of the works, and pose questions to the technicians and site managers responsible for their execution.
The Mayor of Benetússer, Eva Sanz, highlighted that reconstruction is one of the "most important processes our municipality has faced" and emphasized the importance of "all corporate groups having direct information on how the work is progressing." She added that "the commission allows us to continuously monitor, and today we wanted this work to be completed by seeing the sites, talking to the technicians, and being able to ask about each action."
One of the key points of the visit was the municipal pavilion, where reconstruction is in its final phase. Currently, the completion of the sanitary installations in the changing rooms and the installation of the sports court's technical floor are planned for next week. If the current pace is maintained, the facility is expected to reopen in less than a month.
The corporation also visited the reconstruction works of the swimming pool and the municipal sports center, which are progressing according to the established schedule. During the visit, some of the changes and improvements incorporated into the project were explained, such as a new distribution of spaces to include an additional sports room and modifications to corridors and passageways based on suggestions from users to improve functionality upon reopening.
The reconstruction of the Local Police station is also in its final stages, with the main works practically completed. The municipal forecast is for the works to be finished in less than a month. These reconstruction efforts for the pavilion, pool, sports center, and police station are part of projects being executed by the Benetússer City Council with funding from the Spanish Government to restore municipal infrastructure affected by the DANA.
Finally, the visit concluded at the CEIP Vicent Ricart Bonillo school, where a renovation project financed by the Generalitat Valenciana through the Plan Edificant is underway. The demolition of the area for the new gymnasium and its foundation have been completed, and work continues according to schedule to be ready for the next academic year.
