The VI CSIC Equality Committees Meeting has served to strengthen cooperation and the exchange of experiences among the different committees, addressing gender equality and diversity in science.

Researchers from the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA-CSIC), including Ana Rosa Ballester, Mª José Fabra, and Teresa Sanz, recently participated in the VI CSIC Equality Committees Meeting. The event, held at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ITQ, CSIC-UPV), specifically in the Nexus building of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), aimed to foster cooperation and knowledge exchange among the various committees.
The meeting was attended by the president of the CSIC, Eloísa del Pino, and focused on current issues related to gender equality, as well as initiatives and best practices for promoting equality and diversity in the scientific field. Updates on equality within the CSIC were presented, and roundtables were held on strengthening the culture of equality and the challenge of intersectionality, including disability, LGBTIQA+ diversity, and cultural and origin diversity.
During the event, practical cases on gender perspective and intersectionality within the CSIC were showcased. Representatives from the Committees awarded the CSIC Equality Seal in 2025 also spoke: the Institute of Carbo-chemistry (ICB-CSIC), the Eduardo Torroja Institute of Construction Science (IETCC-CSIC), and the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME-CSIC).
The IATA Equality Committee's main objectives include promoting equal opportunities, non-discrimination, organizing awareness activities, diagnosing the institute's equality situation, fostering staff training, and collaborating with other entities on joint actions. It also provides support and guidance to staff on work-life balance and well-being.
