Although most actions against mosquitoes, cockroaches, and rodents are concentrated in the warmer months, the council maintains a continuous campaign. The system combines scheduled actions with specific interventions when new needs arise, whether due to environmental conditions or resident reports.
Recently, the municipal pest control service acted again in the beach area after detecting a new increase in mosquitoes. Following an initial inspection of drains, a general fumigation was carried out, as the combination of rain, humidity, and mild temperatures had once again favored the presence of insects. La Pobla de Farnals' proximity to agricultural and marshland areas necessitates constant vigilance.
The City Council conducts inspections and treatments throughout the year, increasing intensity between spring and autumn. The municipal plan includes monthly drain inspections for mosquito larvae, quarterly treatments in the sewage network for cockroaches and rodents, and specific actions in sensitive areas or for particular incidents. During high-risk months, monitoring of the tiger mosquito and similar species is intensified, along with control in ditches, wetlands, parks, gardens, and areas near agricultural land and marshes.
Throughout 2026, extraordinary actions have also been carried out. During the summer, for instance, the City Council intervened in various parts of the town and the beach after receiving resident reports and observing an increase in insects linked to high temperatures. Extraordinary treatments during the summer season included mosquito control on May 29th, June 3rd, and June 26th, with further reinforcements based on environmental conditions. Beach interventions included areas like Senyera, Serrans, and La Plana, while urban interventions took place in the Moratall neighborhood and between Áviles street and the Bombers area.
The municipal pest control system thus combines three lines of work: prevention through scheduled treatments, monitoring of sensitive points, and response capacity when a specific incident is detected.
The City Council also emphasizes the importance of citizen collaboration to enhance the effectiveness of these treatments, particularly for mosquitoes. Avoiding water accumulation in pots, buckets, saucers, feeders, terraces, or common areas helps reduce potential breeding grounds on private property and complements public space actions.
During 2026, the City Council of La Pobla de Farnals, funded by subsidies from the Diputació de València, has implemented a Public Health Campaign for pest control in municipal spaces and infrastructure. The subsidized project covers the 2026 rat, insect, and disinfection campaign in public buildings and the municipal sanitation network. The pest control work was carried out by the company NC Servicios y Plagas, SL. The Diputació de València granted a subsidy of €2,888.74 for this initiative.
