The La Pobla de Farnals City Council has given the green light to the project for the construction of the new Escoleta de la Mar, an early childhood education service for ages 0 to 3, which will be located in the coastal area.

The Local Government Board has approved the works project with a budget of 163,467.53 euros. The initiative involves adapting part of the current Veles e Vents building to house the new nursery, which will have three distinct spaces to cater to different age groups within the first cycle of Early Childhood Education.
Following the project's approval, the next step will be the tender for the works, with an estimated execution period of six months. The municipal projection is for the new service to be operational for the upcoming 2027-2028 school year.
The Escoleta de la Mar will be managed by the current contractor of the Municipal Escoleta La Creu, located in the urban center. This option was already included in the service's tender to expedite the launch of the new center.
The creation of this new facility addresses the growing demand for places, as La Creu has experienced high demand for several years. The Councilor for Education, Carmen Alcíbar, highlighted that the new nursery will increase capacity, bring the service closer to beach residents, and facilitate work-life balance.
The initiative also responds to requests from families residing in the beach area, a district that has seen an increase in its stable population. Although a free bus service connects the two areas, the new nursery will eliminate daily commutes and offer a more accessible service.
The choice of Veles e Vents allows for the utilization of an existing building in an area with limited public spaces. Its function will be compatible with the cultural, educational, and social activities already taking place there.
Mayor Enric Palanca recalled that a similar initiative was proposed in the nineties but did not proceed due to insufficient child population. The current demographic evolution now allows for the objective to be revisited.
The establishment of this municipal nursery took a significant step forward on March 26th, when the City Council plenary approved the request for authorization from the Generalitat Valenciana to adapt the space. Now, six months later, the approval of the works project allows for the tender phase to commence.
