The initiative aims to promote responsible pet ownership and improve coexistence in the municipality. The Councilor for Animal Welfare, Juan Manuel Álamo, highlighted that the new ordinance reflects how Godella understands coexistence and care for the municipality, promoting a commitment to animal welfare, civility, and shared responsibility.
The ordinance establishes obligations such as the collection of dog waste, registration in the municipal census, and updating pet data. Álamo emphasized the importance of citizen co-responsibility to build a Godella "more respectful, clean, and friendly for everyone".
During the event, held at the Mirador de l’Horta, Carlos Pérez (manager of Anticimex in Valencia), Beatriz Cortina Sabadell (director of MODEPRAN), Karin Catalayud Blau (volunteer for feline colonies), and Enrique Perigüel (director of ADN Canino) also spoke, offering their perspectives on animal welfare.
The mayor of Godella, José M.ª Musoles, closed the event, stating that the ordinance is not just a regulatory framework but a reflection of the desired municipal model based on respect, civility, and coexistence.
Subsequently, attendees toured the Anillo Verde, learning about the location of new bins installed for waste collection. Informative brochures were distributed, and a "human kit" was given to promote responsible habits.
Through this campaign, the Godella City Council and TETMA reinforce awareness and responsible pet ownership as key tools for improving street cleaning and animal welfare in the municipality.
