Fifteen university students have presented four innovative projects at the PCUV Hackathon, held on October 16 and 17 at the University of Valencia Science Park, aiming to bring culture closer to youth and foster scientific vocations.

The four participating teams received awards from the challenging entities. The award from the UV Science Park went to APROP, a platform that gathers the sociocultural activities of the University of Valencia. The PCUV Hackathon, which held its final this Saturday, posed challenges to improve the relationship between youth and cultural offerings, as well as to awaken STEM vocations among girls and young people.
The Chair for Spaces for Culture, Creativity and Innovation and the Grupo Oesía Foundation set the challenges for this edition. The teams presented their solutions to the jury at the end of two working days. APROP, which proposes centralizing the sociocultural activities of the University of Valencia aimed at students on a platform, received recognition from the UV Science Park. Adrián Berenguer, a Master's student in Bioinformatics, was its spokesperson.
Another team presented Pasaporte Digital Cultural, a web application that rewards attendance at cultural events with points exchangeable for tickets or visits. Chema Segovia, a researcher from the Chair for Spaces, highlighted the creativity and energy of the teams, who went far in difficult challenges, developing tangible products.
To awaken STEM vocations, the Grupo Oesía Foundation proposed designing a sustainable program, with special attention to female talent. One team designed a mentor seedbed for girls aged 13 to 18, combining artificial intelligence and robotics. Ignacio Agüera Moltó, a student of the Master's in Creation and Management of Innovative Companies, valued the shared learning and the ability to communicate the idea in a short time.
The fourth team proposed an itinerary to bring secondary school students closer to STEM careers and the professional world, including workshops, company visits, and practical activities. Lucas Sendra Esteve, a Chemical Engineering student, described the experience as "very, very good," highlighting the learning in a stressful environment significant for professional daily life.
The jury included Fernando Zárraga (manager of the Fundació Parc Científic Universitat de València), Chema Segovia (researcher from the Chair for Spaces), and Henar Adrados and Moisés Fernández (from Tecnobit-Grupo Oesía). The PCUV Hackathon is part of the INCUBA2 program of the University of Valencia Science Park, with the support of the Conselleria d’Innovació, Indústria, Comerç i Turisme.
