The Local Security Board of Paterna hosted the presentation of the poster for La Cordà 2026, an event that will fill the Calle Mayor with fire and tradition. During the meeting, safety protocols and devices were reviewed to ensure the development of this celebration with over two centuries of history.
Mayor Juan Antonio Sagredo highlighted the evolution of safety measures, emphasizing that "the secret to the success of our Cordà, and for it to be the best Cordà in the world, is precisely safety." He defended the need to adapt the festival to new regulations, including processing permits for gunpowder transport and annual updates to safety plans, also considering European directives.
La Cordà, declared a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest (2007) and National Tourist Interest (2017), and recognized as an Intangible Cultural Interest Festival (2022), now seeks international recognition. Sagredo expressed the desire for the festival to "transcend borders" and showcase the town's fire culture to the world.
The new poster image, designed by deputy mayor Isabel Segura, is inspired by gunpowder, the festival's connection to Paterna, and the participants themselves. The design aims to capture the concentration of participants and the intensity of the moment, with typography inspired by the texture of gunpowder.
The security device will involve the participation of the Local Police, National Police, Civil Protection, and personnel from other municipalities. New features include luminous devices for communication among participants and the ability to evacuate Calle Mayor in under ten minutes in case of adverse weather phenomena. Government sub-delegate José Rodríguez Jurado confirmed the reinforcement of the National Police to ensure public safety.
The presentation of the poster and security devices reflects Paterna's commitment to preserving tradition while adapting to current standards, aiming to consolidate the recognition of a festival that seeks to project itself beyond its borders.
