The Paterna City Council has intensified surveillance against the abandonment of debris and waste in public areas, utilizing its video surveillance camera network. In a recent case, a company has been identified for dumping construction waste next to bins in the Campamento neighborhood.
The identification was made possible thanks to the cooperation of a resident, who alerted officers and provided images of the vehicles used for the dumping, including their license plates. The council is pursuing these uncivil behaviors to keep the streets clean.
A Local Police patrol responded to the scene and confirmed the presence of the waste. Although the alleged perpetrators were no longer present, the images and video provided by the resident allowed for the identification of the vehicles and determination that the materials originated from a property on the same street where removal work was being carried out.
These actions contravene the municipal ordinance, leading to the initiation of a sanctioning process for a 3,000 euro fine. Furthermore, they have been required to remove the improperly deposited materials.
The mayor, Juan Antonio Sagredo, emphasized the importance of citizen collaboration and assured that surveillance will be reinforced to detect and penalize such conduct, reminding that "taking care of Paterna is everyone's responsibility."
