During the twelve days the exhibition was open to the public, from August 27th to September 11th, visitors could view a selection of photographs contributed by local families. The main objective was to introduce the project and encourage further contributions to preserve Rafelbunyol's graphic memory.
Mayor Fran López emphasized the importance of such projects for “recovering our memory as a community and preserving our identity as a town,” noting that the initiative aligns with the municipality's ongoing growth.
Councilwoman for Culture, Alicia Piquer, stated that the exhibition aimed to “showcase a selection of what families have contributed and encourage more submissions.” She highlighted that “every photograph added to the archive helps preserve a small piece of our history and the collective memory of the town.”
The exhibition, curated by project coordinator Pedro Vicente-Mullor, benefited from the collaboration of the Universitat Politècnica de València and the Institut de Restauració del Patrimoni. It garnered significant interest during the patron saint festivities, averaging 100 visitors daily.
The City Council views the public's positive reception as a boost for the project's continued development. Consequently, it encourages families possessing old photographs of Rafelbunyol to contribute them to the archive, aiming to collectively build a collection that preserves the municipality's visual heritage.
