Hundreds of people celebrated Horchata Day in Alboraya this Wednesday, with the distribution of over a thousand liters of artisan horchata and fartons, in an event organized by the City Council and the Alboraia Artesans de l’Orxata Product Club.

The celebration of Horchata Day in Alboraya brought together a large crowd this Wednesday to participate in activities organized by the City Council and the Alboraia Artesans de l’Orxata Product Club. The free distribution of artisan horchata and fartons became the main meeting point, keeping the popular and participatory spirit of this tradition alive. This year, more than a thousand liters of the drink were distributed.
The mayor, Miguel Chavarría, expressed his satisfaction with the event's reception and highlighted horchata's role as an economic and social driver for the municipality. Institutional representatives such as Diana Morant, Pilar Bernabé, and José Manuel Camarero also attended.

"This celebration is a tribute to the Horchata Guild and its origins. Horchata is much more than a drink: it is tradition, effort, and history"

Throughout the day, the city council offered the Orxata Experience, a free initiative to learn about the tradition's origins, including visits to tiger nut fields and horchata production centers. This experience allowed attendees to discover the work behind every glass of horchata.
For his part, Daniel Tortajada, president of the Horchateros Guild, emphasized the guild's importance for the local economy and job creation, valuing the work of both horchata makers and farmers.
Representatives from the Product Club and members of the Artisan Horchateros Guild participated in the event, which began with a media reception and a round table. Chef and culinary communicator Lluís Penyafort presented the session, focusing on the positive impact of artisan horchata production on Alboraya's environment.
The day included tastings, contests, and workshops. To conclude the celebration, artisan horchata will also be distributed at the fairgrounds during the municipality's festivities.
