The Metropolitan Entity for Waste Treatment (EMTRE) and the Federación Hostelería Valencia are consolidating their alliance for the second consecutive year, participating in the Gastrónoma fair to raise awareness in the HORECA sector about reducing food waste and improving waste separation.

For the second consecutive year, EMTRE is participating in the stand of the Federación Hostelería Valencia at the Gastrónoma fair. The objective is to raise awareness in the HORECA sector about the need to reduce food waste and improve waste separation at source, especially organic waste.
The entity, responsible for the treatment of waste from grey and brown bins and the network of ecoparks in the metropolitan area of València, and the Federación Hostelería Valencia continue to build synergies to advance towards a more circular economy in the sector.
The president of EMTRE, Emilio J. Belencoso, has pointed out that one of the challenges is to promote the separation at source of organic waste, which must be deposited in the brown bin. He highlighted the importance of the involvement of Valencian hospitality businesses as major generators of organic waste to improve separation rates.
For his part, the president of the Federación Hostelería Valencia, Manuel Espinar, has underlined the sector's firm commitment to sustainability and how the collaboration with EMTRE and the workshops reinforce the professionals' awareness.
Environmental educators from the EMTREduca service have informed and raised awareness among visiting professionals about the importance of correctly separating organic matter and reducing food waste. They also disseminated the Guide to Good Environmental Practices for Hospitality in the Valencian Community.
Both entities are exploring new avenues of collaboration to promote training actions and increase the correct management of waste and the circular economy in the sector.
The EMTREduca program is funded by the Generalitat Valenciana. Those interested in participating in the free environmental education activities can find more information on the entity's website.
